Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a Chiropractor and a Osteopath?
Chiropractors and Osteopaths both specialise in diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal problems affecting the spine, joints and muscles. While their treatment techniques and approaches can differ slightly, there is significant overlap between the two professions.
At Kube Medical, our Chiropractors and Osteopaths work together as part of a multidisciplinary team, allowing patients to receive the most appropriate care for their condition as treatment progresses.
How many appointments will I need?
The number of sessions needed varies depending on the nature of the condition, how long symptoms have been present and the patient’s overall health and activity levels.
Some patients experience improvement after only a few visits, while others with longer-standing problems may benefit from a course of care to restore movement and support long-term recovery. Your Practitioner will discuss a treatment plan tailored to your individual needs following your initial assessment.
How do I know what type of massage I need?
At Kube Medical all massages are booked under the same appointment type so you can discuss any problems that you are having with your practitioner and decide what would be the best massage type for you.
If you are looking to book for an MLD (Manual Lympathtic Drainage) Massage, they are booked under a seperate appointment type but are the same length and cost of a standard massage appointment.
What is laser/shockwave therapy?
Laser therapy is a non-invasive and pain-free treatment option for various kinds of injuries and ailments. It helps to promote faster wound healing and relieve pain and inflammation. This therapy can be used to support other treatment protocols, and applied before, during and after surgical procedures. It can also be undertaken for both acute and chronic medical conditions.
Shockwave therapy is a safe and effective treatment for tendon and associated pain. It is also often referred to as extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT). This rehabilitation is frequently opted for where other treatments to address problems, like strength issues, gait, posture, and muscle length, have failed to relieve pain. It can be used as a standalone treatment, or to support treatment plans from Chiropractors and Osteopaths.
What does acupuncture/dry needling do?
Acupuncture and dry needling involve inserting very fine needles into specific areas of the body to help reduce pain and improve movement. Dry needling primarily targets tight or irritated muscles (trigger points) to relieve muscle tension, improve blood flow, and restore normal muscle function. Acupuncture is based on traditional Chinese medicine principles but has also been shown to stimulate the nervous system, encouraging the release of natural pain-relieving chemicals and promoting healing. Both techniques can be effective in managing musculoskeletal pain, reducing muscle stiffness, and supporting recovery when used as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.
