Newsletter: April 2024

Patrick Campbell • 9 April 2024

Spring is almost here! Slightly later than usual, here's the latest news from the team at Kube Medical.

Team Kube

We’re delighted to have recruited some outstanding athletes to be part of Team Kube, our sponsored athlete programme:

  • Pharrell Johnson signed for Swindon Town FC in January and aims to recover from his current injury and earn a first team place.
  • Amelia Cripps aims to build on her successful swimming career and achieve a top ten ranking in Great Britain.
  • Toby Owen is a budding club sailor with autism, who aspires to compete at a national and international level.

Find out more here.

Events

We’ve booked some exciting new events in the coming months:

  • Infant clinic will be running this month on 16th April from 1-3pm. Our paediatric trained practitioners will be on hand to discuss your circumstances at this free drop-in session. There’s no need to book.
  • After a successful session in March, Sarah Shah: Menopause Coach will be at the clinic again on 8th May 7-8.30. This will be a free session for patients to better understand the journey of peri/menopause and the support available. We are at maximum capacity for this event, but will look to arrange more in the future when we can.

Last Minute Massages

Kube Medical | Last Minute Massage

From time to time, we have some extra capacity available at short notice, so we've set up a Calendly link to book in for massages at short notice.

We'll usually update this on a Tuesday for the rest of the week, but the link will stay the same.

Check out the availability for the week ahead here.

In Our Community:

Work Experience

Earlier in March, we welcomed Rob to the team for a week. Rob has an interest in sports journalism, so he helped produce our press release about our new Team Kube athletes, and develop our Team Kube page.

We love supporting healthcare professionals of the future, and we do our best to accommodate requests for shadowing and work experience. Do you know someone who would be interested?
Get in touch.

Supporting Local Business

Many of our patients come to us for help with problems that restrict their ability to work. We’re looking for case studies of patients where our help has allowed them to keep running their business. If you’d like to participate, we’ll share the story of you and your business, and give you a massage with one of the team to say “Thanks”.

Kube Medical | Clinical Integrity
by Patrick Campbell 14 June 2025
Like many businesses in healthcare, we sometimes receive feedback that is difficult to read — not because it challenges us, but because it doesn’t reflect the care and intention with which our team works every day. Recently, a negative review was shared online that has been mentioned by both current and prospective patients. While we always value constructive feedback and use it to review our processes, I wanted to take a moment — from my perspective as a non-clinical Director — to clarify how we work, and the values that guide our decisions when it comes to patient care.

As a Physiotherapist with over six years of experience working with athletes, I've encountered a pattern that’s all too familiar — the dedicated, driven sports person who finds themselves stuck in limbo after an injury. One particular case stands out, and it’s a scenario I see frequently, especially with individuals recovering from sports injuries in Swindon.

Every so often, I come across someone who’s been told, or believes, they have cervical kyphosis. It’s a term that sounds serious and often sparks fear, confusion, or a sudden identity shift: “I have a curved neck; I must be broken.” Today, I saw just that—someone on social media seeking help after self-diagnosing with cervical kyphosis.

If you have private health insurance with Bupa, Axa, Aviva, Vitality, or WPA, you may be eligible to receive Chiropractic, Osteopathy, or Physiotherapy treatment at Kube Medical in Swindon. Many health insurance policies cover musculoskeletal treatments, but it’s important to understand how the process works, what is covered, and how to make a claim. This guide will walk you through the insurance process, what treatments are covered, and how to book an appointment using your insurance.
