Newsletter: July 2024

Patrick Campbell • 3 July 2024

It’s another new month and the school holidays are edging closer. Throughout late July and August, several of our practitioners have holidays booked, so please make arrangements for your regular treatment as soon as possible. You can book online here.

Staff Changes

Osteopathy

Kube Medical | Amy Bryant

We’re sad to be saying farewell to Amy during July. Amy first joined the team as a graduate Osteopath in 2021, working with us before spending a year in Australia. She returned last year and has been a popular member of our team, her skillset being especially valued among our patients who prefer a more gentle approach to treatment. She leaves for another exciting opportunity in Australia.

Amy’s final day in clinic is 11th July, so please book in before then if you would like a final appointment with her.

Kube Medical | Meryl Volpe

Meryl Volpe joins the clinic on 12th July. Meryl obtained her Masters in Osteopathy from Swansea University, where she graduated alongside Amy. With a similar skillset, Meryl is a natural replacement for Amy.

Physiotherapy and Sports Therapy

Kube Medical | Issie Mclachlan Clark

We’re delighted to announce that Issie McLachlan Clark will be starting her Physiotherapy course at Cardiff University in September. Issie joined the team as a Sports Therapist two years ago and enjoys an excellent reputation with her patients. As her course allows, Issie will return to see her regular patients on a monthly basis.

Kube Medical | William Sperrin

Physiotherapy will be returning to the clinic in August (at last!!). Will Sperrin graduates from the University of Winchester with a degree in Physiotherapy this summer. Alongside his studies, he has worked as a Physiotherapy Assistant and massage therapist.

Quality Scores

90% of patients reported very good satisfaction or better with the care they received in the six months to 30th June 2024. 90% of patients reported good satisfaction or better with reception services in the same period.

Laser Therapy Packages

In response to patient demand, we have created intensive laser treatment packages. These are designed to help patients overcome acute injuries, particularly at the stage where they are not yet able to start rehabilitation or benefit from other treatments. We’ve done some case studies, including broken bones and torn muscles. The results have been very compelling. Find out more here:

Events

We’ve booked some exciting new events in the coming months:

  • Baby clinic will be running on a slightly altered schedule from our usual 1st and 3rd Tuesdays during the summer. Our paediatric trained practitioners will be on hand from 1-3pm to discuss your circumstances at this free drop-in session on the following dates:
  • Tuesday 30th July
  • Tuesday 6th August
  • Tuesday 27th August
  • Tuesday 17th September.
  • We’re delighted to be supporting various LPS Events this summer. We’ll be back for the evening triathlon on Wednesday 17th July.

Longevity Games

We recognise the importance of movement in health. Many of our patients would like to be more active to support their physical and mental wellbeing, but don’t know where to start. The Longevity Games is a new Swindon-based event that is designed to provide a fun environment for people to get active and improve their health.

With three tiers to choose from, it's all at your own level and ability. It is perfect for those looking for an introductory event to get themselves motivated and moving. Intermediate and proficient competitions are also available to those who are ready to push themselves further.

After a successful pilot in May, the event will be taking place again in September. Registration opens in July. Register your interest here.

All the best,

Sam, Patrick and the Team at Kube Medical

Kube Medical | Clinical Integrity
by Patrick Campbell 14 June 2025
Like many businesses in healthcare, we sometimes receive feedback that is difficult to read — not because it challenges us, but because it doesn’t reflect the care and intention with which our team works every day. Recently, a negative review was shared online that has been mentioned by both current and prospective patients. While we always value constructive feedback and use it to review our processes, I wanted to take a moment — from my perspective as a non-clinical Director — to clarify how we work, and the values that guide our decisions when it comes to patient care.

As a Physiotherapist with over six years of experience working with athletes, I've encountered a pattern that’s all too familiar — the dedicated, driven sports person who finds themselves stuck in limbo after an injury. One particular case stands out, and it’s a scenario I see frequently, especially with individuals recovering from sports injuries in Swindon.

Every so often, I come across someone who’s been told, or believes, they have cervical kyphosis. It’s a term that sounds serious and often sparks fear, confusion, or a sudden identity shift: “I have a curved neck; I must be broken.” Today, I saw just that—someone on social media seeking help after self-diagnosing with cervical kyphosis.
